Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia & Margaret Stohl

Beautiful Creatures is a book by two authors Kami Garcia & Margaret Stohl and there are also two main characters. The first main character is Ethan Wate and the second is Lena Duchannes.

Ethan Wate is from a small town that is strange but familiar to all the citizens there. People don't usually come into this town. Every night, he has a dream about falling with a girl that he has never met. Even though he has never met her, he loves her and believes she is real. On the first day of high school, his dream became reality and he met the girl from his dream, Lena. Ethan was living a normal human life until he met Lena and found out about the hidden world of monster and magic.

Lena Duchannes is a caster girl, a girl who comes from a long lineage of casters, a girl who can use magic. What's special is that these people only get their magic at the age of 16 and are "claimed." When they are "claimed," they are chosen for light or dark and given special magical solely for them. Lena is a special girl from her family that will end a curse that has haunted her family for generations. Lena moves to Gatlin and meets her love, Ethan.

Together Ethan and Lena find out many secrets of Lena's, Duchannes families, heritage. With the help of Ethan Wate, Lena was able to find out that she will end curse on her family, but that half of her family will die depending on her decision. If she chooses light, the dark casters will die, but if she chooses dark, the light casters will die.

In the end, Lena turns half dark and half light, ending in only one death from each side. Lena finds out that her only friend and boyfriend, Ethan has died. The story continues in book 2 of Beautiful Creatures, Beautiful Darkness.
